These terms govern the use of occima.org and of the member services provided through it. By using this site, registering a business, or taking out membership, you agree to them.
They are between you and the Owerri Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture ("OCCIMA", "the chamber", "we"), of FSP Park, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria.
Registering and membership
Any business may create an account. Creating one gives you a private workspace and nothing more: no directory listing, no verification mark and no membership benefits. Those follow once the chamber has verified your documents and your dues are paid.
You must give accurate information and keep it current. You are responsible for everything done through your account, and for keeping your password to yourself. Tell us at once if you believe someone else has access to it.
One account represents one business. Do not register a business you are not authorised to act for.
What verification means, and what it does not
Verification means the chamber has seen the documents it asked for and accepted them. It is a statement about paperwork at a point in time.
It is not a guarantee of a member's solvency, competence, honesty, or of the quality, safety or legality of anything a member sells. The chamber does not audit its members' trading, inspect their goods, or supervise their contracts. You remain responsible for your own commercial judgement, your own due diligence and your own contracts.
The chamber may withdraw verification at any time, and will do so if the basis for it no longer holds.
Fees
Membership dues, verification fees and service fees are published on this site and may change. A change does not affect a period already paid for.
Fees are payable in Nigerian Naira. Payment is taken by our payment provider; we do not see or hold your card details.
Fees are not refundable except where the law requires it or where the chamber has failed to provide what was paid for. A membership that lapses stops the listing and the member services until it is renewed.
Your listing and your content
You own what you publish. By publishing it here you give the chamber permission to display it on this site and in chamber materials for as long as your listing is live.
What you publish must be accurate, must be yours to publish, and must not be unlawful, misleading, offensive, or an infringement of anyone else's rights. Do not publish another person's personal data without their consent.
The chamber may edit, hide or remove any listing or content that breaches these terms, that is inaccurate, or that would bring the chamber into disrepute. Where we can, we will tell you why first.
What the chamber does not do
These limits are part of the agreement, not disclaimers added at the end.
- We introduce members to lenders. We do not lend. We do not hold your money, guarantee any facility, score your credit, or advise you on borrowing. Any arrangement you reach with a lender is between you and that lender.
- We verify businesses. We do not hold their money. Where the platform enables a transaction between members, the chamber is not a party to it and does not operate escrow.
- We publish guidance. We do not advise. Nothing on this site is legal, regulatory, taxation or financial advice. Take your own advice before acting.
- We connect employers and candidates. We do not employ. The chamber is not a party to any employment relationship formed through this site and does not vet candidates or employers.
Business to business services
Where the chamber operates a request for quotation board, buying groups, a marketplace or similar services, they are provided as a means of introduction. Contracts formed through them are between the businesses concerned. The chamber may moderate, decline or withdraw any listing, request or quotation.
Prices, specifications and availability are the responsibility of the business that published them.
Onyeoma
Onyeoma is a guide that answers questions using only pages the chamber has published. It may be wrong, incomplete or out of date. It is not advice, and where an answer matters, ask the secretariat. Do not type personal or confidential information into it.
Acceptable use
You may not use this site to break the law, to impersonate anyone, to harvest data about members, to interfere with its operation, to attempt to reach records you are not entitled to, or to send unsolicited commercial messages to members.
The member directory is published so that buyers can find suppliers. It may not be copied, scraped or resold as a mailing list.
Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time by writing to us. Doing so ends your listing; it does not by itself refund dues already paid.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is used unlawfully, or whose dues remain unpaid. Where the breach can be put right, we will normally ask you to put it right first.
Availability
We aim to keep this site available but do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or free of faults. Parts of it depend on services we do not control. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, the chamber is not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of contracts or indirect or consequential loss, and its total liability to you in any twelve month period is limited to the fees you paid the chamber in that period.
The chamber is not liable for the acts, omissions, goods or services of its members, of lenders, of employers, or of any other business you deal with through this site.
Privacy
Our handling of personal data is described in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Where a change materially affects members, we will tell members by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the change.
General
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Imo State have jurisdiction.
